Online Payment with e-Bill
What Is e-Bill?
e-Bill is a free service providing you the convenience to receive, view and pay your bill online. To sign up for e-Bill, you must first register for Online Services.
Why Sign Up?
- A monthly e-mail is sent when your bill is available to view and pay.
- Provides online access to your most recent bills and payments.
- There are no checks to write, stamps to buy or paper bills to file.
How to Get Started
To sign up for e-Bill, you must first register for Online Services. To register for Online Services, you’ll need:
- A Duke Energy account number
- The corresponding last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number or Federal Tax ID.
Your account will be available to pay online after the 24-hour enrollment verification period.
- New Online Services User?
- Register for Online Services and then register for e-Bill.
- Existing Online Services User?
- Log in to Online Services and then register for e-Bill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the e-Bill service secure?
Yes. For security and privacy of transactions, enrollment requires a user name and password to log on to the online billing service. We use 128-bit encryption, which is the safest encryption technology available today.
What if I am already paying electronically at another site?
If you are currently paying at another site, you may be able to receive your Duke Energy bill at that site. View a list of over 400 portals that will allow you to receive a bill each month from Duke Energy.
Who can enroll?
Existing customers can enroll anytime. New customers can enroll after receiving their first bill.
Note: The following account types are not eligible to enroll: Summary billed, EDI, Nantahala or accounts with a history of returned checks.
Will I be able to pay immediately after I enroll my account?
Your account will be available to pay online after the 24-hour enrollment verification period.
How do I enroll multiple accounts in e-Bill?
Your e-Bill enrollment is complete after 24 hours. Additional accounts may be added by to selecting My Profile, Service Accounts, and Add. Enrollment for additional accounts will be completed in 24 hours.
How long does it take for my payment to transfer to Duke Energy?
It can take up to five business days for your payment to be credited to your Duke Energy account.
May I use my credit card to pay my bill?
You can pay online by credit card using Western Union Speedpay. Speedpay charges a convenience fee for using this service. For your convenience, this service is available 24 hours every day.
I am now enrolled in e-Bill and have not received my first bill electronically. Can I pay my current bill online?
Yes, an e-Bill payment can be made before receiving the first bill following enrollment. Log in to Online Services, click on the Pay Bill button and follow the prompts. The payment date you select must be two business days from today's date.
What should I do if I transfer my service to another location?
Your new account is not automatically enrolled once you transfer your service. You will need to enroll the new account by clicking on My Profile and Service Accounts. Enter your new account information and click Add.
