In the event of an energy emergency, Duke Energy may curtail electrical service to its customers when appropriate. While Duke Energy cannot guarantee a continuous and uninterrupted flow of power to any customer, we do make every reasonable effort to maintain service to essential customers and minimize interruption time.

To know who is at greatest risk during an energy emergency, we attempt to identify, maintain and update an essential customer list for our load curtailment plans. We also review our curtailment rotation schedules annually in an attempt to minimize the number of essential customers affected by a curtailment.
