Cinergy Foundation Announces $1 Million In Grants To Indiana Organizations

PLAINFIELD, Ind., March 30, 2006—The Cinergy Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Cinergy Corp. and PSI Energy Inc., has announced approximately $1 million in grants to Indiana not-for-profit organizations.

Funded by Cinergy shareholders, some of the major grants announced include:

  • $250,000 to United Way of Central Indiana to help fund community access to 2-1-1, a telephone number for human services information and referral
  • $100,000 to Hanover College for its Community Arts and Culture and its Symposium Series
  • $60,000 to March of Dimes for WalkAmerica and its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Family Support program
  • $75,000 to DePauw University for its Nature Park
  • $50,000 to the Sycamore Land Trust for an Environmental Education Trail
  • $40,000 to Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus for University Park
  • $35,000 to Operation Migration for its Endangered Species Reintroduction Program, Whooping Crane Project
  • $35,000 to the Indiana Chamber Foundation for its Economic Vision Report Card Project
  • $35,000 to the Indianapolis Art Center for community and regional access initiatives
  • $25,000 to Ivy Tech Community College for the “Grow Ivy Tech” campaign
  • $25,000 to the Honeywell Foundation for its endowment campaign
  • $25,000 to the Terre Haute Children’s Museum

Each year Cinergy Corp., the parent company of PSI Energy and The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co., reinvests 1 percent of the pretax profits of its regulated operations in the communities it serves. The company is Indiana’s largest supplier of electricity, serving more than 750,000 customers in 69 of Indiana’s 92 counties.
