Community Involvement

Duke Energy retirees have a long history of volunteerism, and their contributions are significant to the company’s commitment in our communities.

Duke Energy began expanding its retiree program in 1994, with the purpose of engaging retirees in Duke Energy activities while also enlisting their support to help meet community needs in the Duke Energy service territory. Currently, 23 retiree chapters are meeting quarterly across the Piedmont Carolinas, with each focused on what its members can do to give back to the communities where they live. Chapters will continue to grow in Duke Energy’s Midwest territory of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

The ultimate gain for our communities is the benefit from our retirees’ dedication and commitment to help others. And for our retirees, belonging to their chapters provides an avenue for volunteerism as well as a continued fellowship with former coworkers and friends.
