Children's Museum
Terre Haute Children’s Museum opened its doors in 1988 in the basement of The Central Christian Church. Since its early beginnings, it has more than doubled in size and has educated over 230,000 adults and children from over 22 counties in Indiana and Illinois. Its mission is to enrich our children’s lives through the exploration of science and technology. The “new” Terre Haute Children’s Museum will open as 36,000 square feet of pure exploration. Experiential learning will take place in immersive museum galleries. Visitors will be transported for a brief period of time into a space station, a dinosaur archeological dig site, a tree house high in the canopy and even an earth station. The museum’s focus on math, science and technology will support the quality classroom experiences. At the museum, complex science and math concepts become full physical interactive experiences designed to capture our imagination and ignite our senses to draw connections about our world.
