R. Sean Trauschke Senior Vice President - Investor Relations and Financial Planning

Sean Trauschke is senior vice president of investor relations and financial planning for Duke Energy. He is responsible for monitoring changes and trends in investment markets, as well as developing, maintaining and enhancing key relationships and communications with retail and institutional investors, financial analysts and financial institutions. In addition, Trauschke has oversight of corporate financial planning and analysis, corporate budgeting and business support; and financial planning and analysis for both Franchised Electric and Gas and Commercial Businesses. He was named to his current position in November 2007.
Most recently, Trauschke served as vice president of investor relations.
Following the merger of Duke Energy and Cinergy in April 2006, Trauschke served as vice president of risk management, chief risk officer and chief credit officer. He was responsible for overseeing market and credit risk management, as well as insurance, for all of Duke Energy.
Trauschke began his career working in the company’s commercial and industrial marketing department in 1989 while still a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He joined full time in the purchasing department in 1990; and after a series of promotions, he was named a manager of purchasing at Oconee Nuclear Station in 1996. He returned to Charlotte in 1997 as manager of strategic sourcing in the purchasing department. From 1998 to 2004, Trauschke worked for Duke Energy’s treasury department with increasing levels of responsibility and was named general manager of business unit finance in February 2004. He was named vice president of corporate risk management, chief risk officer and chief credit officer in June 2004.
Trauschke serves on the boards of directors of the North Carolina Zoological Society and the Greater Enrichment Program, Inc., a nonprofit organization. He is also a board member of the Athletic Foundation for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Trauschke earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina.
Trauschke was born in 1967. He is married to the former Jill Collins and they have two daughters and a son.
